Bossy Like Me is a publication for and about women and non-binary leaders on small business strategy. Be Kind. Make Money. Create Impact.
My name is Reneé Blanchard and I’m the founder of Bossy Like Me. I opened Church Alley Coffee Bar in New Orleans in 2013. It has been the best and sometimes the most challenging decision I’ve made. Along the way, I’ve sought advice and counsel from so many on the same journey of small business ownership. I created this publication as a way to share that knowledge.
I am constantly searching to learn more about the habits, rituals, and strategies of other successful people. It is through this type of storytelling that we pass along lessons of success and failure to one another.
My mission is to nourish, empower, and serve through Church Alley Cafe & Grocery and the Bossy Like Me project. Before I opened my cafe, my career was in public health, non-profit project management, and community organizing. Now I get to serve my community delicious, veggie-forward, and nutritious meals in a comfortable atmosphere.
And my love of learning never stops. In 2018, I started taking classes at the local community college as I sought out more education in nutrition. Now I attend Nicholls State University working on my Dietetics degree to become a Registered Dietitian. This will eventually be a new business for me to explore and develop as my community evolves.
I post new articles, interviews, and podcast episodes along the way. You can also join my sporadic emails list for thoughts, tricks, strategies, and new ideas on small business, project management, and nutrition.
